A "Fire Suppression System" can be defined to mean "an integrated combination of fire alarm system and fire suppression equipment which as a result of predetermined temperature rise, products of combustion, flame or human intervention will discharge a fire extinguishing substance over a fire area."
Automatic fire suppression systems control and extinguish fires without human intervention. Examples of automatic systems include fire sprinkler systems, gaseous fire suppression, and condensed aerosol fire suppression.

Fire Detection and Alarm Systems range from simple manually activated systems through to complex Multi Panel Addressable Fire Detection and Alarm Systems.
The main purpose of a Fire Detection & alarm System is to protect life by giving early warning of a fire, so that occupants can evacuate and/ or the fire department can respond.
The system must be able to detect the initiation of a fire condition, but also notify someone such as emergency personnel, the occupants of the facility or both.
A Fire Detection & Alarm System must be designed, installed, tested and maintained in accordance with Local and/ or International Fire Detection & Alarm Standards to ensure that the system is installed correctly and will be maintained to remain in optimum functional condition for the life of the system.
Okavango Electronics have designed and installed literally hundreds of Fire Detection & Alarm Systems to a diverse client base throughout Botswana since 1990, and provide maintainance, inspection and repair services for systems country wide.
